Selling Your Closet

Turn your pageant wardrobe into extra income! Whether you've outgrown a dress, changed systems, or simply want to clear space, PageantTree is the go-to marketplace for selling your gently-used pageant goods.

1. Create a Free Account

To get started, sign up and create your profile. Make sure to add a photo and a short bio — buyers love knowing who they’re shopping from.

2. List Your Item

Click “Sell” and upload clear photos of your item. Include at least one full-length shot and a close-up of any embellishments or wear.

Then, just hit the "Autofill with AI" button to have our AI save you time!

This will automatically fill out:

• Title (e.g. "Sherri Hill Size 4 Pink Gown")
• Description (sizing notes, worn how many times, stage history, etc.)
• Category & Subcategory
• Color

We do recommend you review what it wrote, of course, and make any changes you'd like. Then, add:

• Brand (optional, but recommended)
• Price
• Compare-At Price (optional. this can be how much you paid for it, or retail price)

🔒 Only limited editing is available once an item is published, so double-check your info!

3. Platform-Mediated Transactions (Default)

All new listings automatically use platform-mediated transactions with the Buy Button enabled. This provides:

• Secure checkout — Buyers purchase directly through PageantTree with secure payment processing
• Automatic payment handling — PageantTree processes payments and holds funds in escrow
• Buyer protection — Refund requests and dispute resolution handled through the platform
• Automatic payouts — You receive 85% of the sale price directly to your Stripe Connect account
• 15% transaction fee — Covers payment processing, escrow, and platform services

💡 Important: To receive payouts, you'll need to set up a Stripe Connect account in My Account → Payment Account. You can list items before completing Stripe verification, but payouts will be held until verification is complete.

⚠️ Note: The Buy Button cannot be disabled once enabled for a listing. This ensures buyers can complete their purchases.

Legacy Listings (Message-Only)

If you have existing listings created before the platform-mediated model was introduced, they may use the traditional message-only model. These legacy listings:

• Require buyers to contact you directly via messaging
• You coordinate payment (Venmo, PayPal, etc.) and shipping directly
• No transaction fees — you keep 100% of what you earn
• More manual work but full control

You can convert legacy listings to use the Buy Button from the listing edit page or your My Listings page.

4. Pay the Flat Listing Fee

There's a small one-time listing fee based on your item price. This is separate from any transaction fees if you use the Buy Button.

5. Connect with Buyers

Buyers may message you with questions. Be responsive and polite — good communication helps your item sell faster.

For platform-mediated sales (Buy Button): Once a buyer purchases, you'll receive a notification with their shipping address. Ship promptly and mark the order as shipped in your Sales dashboard with tracking information. Funds are released to your Stripe account after the buyer confirms receipt or 3 days after delivery.

For legacy message-only listings: Once you agree on payment (Venmo, PayPal, etc.), ship promptly and send tracking info directly to the buyer.

6. Manage Your Sales

For platform-mediated sales, you can:

• View all your sales in My Sales dashboard
• Track earnings, fees, and payout status
• Mark orders as shipped with tracking numbers
• Respond to refund requests from buyers
• View detailed payout information in My Account → Payout

For legacy message-only listings, coordinate directly with buyers through messaging.

7. Build Your Seller Reputation

Complete your profile, list additional items, and keep everything accurate. Sellers who build a positive reputation can attract repeat buyers and even vendor status.
